The Heart of it All

I'm currently working on some collage pieces for myself. Here's the first one, "The Heart of it All":
It doesn't look much like a collage, but I painted each layer separately and then layered them on Photoshop. I'm proud of this one because it's the first thing I've done for myself in awhile. I was getting in a lot of "me time" in my painting class before it was unexpectedly cancelled. (Where are you Nadine???) So I really haven't sat down to enjoy my art in awhile. Luckily after I bolted out of the office on Half Day Friday, I found some time to paint it up. Of course, I probably should've been painting more crates for the October Craft Fair, or working on the dots image for B&N's Back to School line 2009, but I needed this time for myself. Way to go me.
I also must share some great inspirational tunage...who's heard of Kaki King?? You must listen. She is an experimental guitarist and indie singer/songwriter "famous for a unique slap and tap method". Her Bari Improv is my favorite. It helped me through this painting.
